getting ready

Image
well....this house should be well protected.  #somanyshoes #schoolandsoccerarearoundthecorner #wekeepunderarmourinbusiness #myfirsttimehashtagging #thisfeelsweird #alldonehashtagging Luke now refuses to remove his new shoes....which is so completely adorable when he is running around in his bright orange pj's.  We are in full "getting ready for school" mode.  Brushing up on reading and math. working on learning money and time.  supply shopping is around the corner.   and every morning I am praying.  I am praying for my boys and the changes that are coming as they start a new school with new friends and a whole new way of doing things.  I know they are up for the challenge.  and I believe with all my heart this change is God's perfect plan for this school year.  I pray for peace...probably more for me than for them :)  I pray that they will feel confident and brave as they walk through those doors in a few weeks. ...

we are cruising through summer and enjoying every moment.....except maybe for a few of those days where temperatures were so insanely hot that this momma had a hard time thinking straight. Ha!  I'm trying to block those days out.  It's the humidity.  here in the mid-atlantic the humidity is crazy.  Like walking into a solid wall of moisture day in and day out.  which has made for some pretty wild hair days. let's see June 8. that was my last post.  wowzers.  much has happened.  here it is in a very brief nutshell..... school ended....yay!....we now have a third grader, a first grader, and a ready to start preschooler..... that should be fun.  baseball ended.....or so we thought.  Jack was selected to the all star team.....yay! .....which has meant a tournament every weekend in July.  yikes.  but we have survived and are wrapping up baseball season for real this time with the last tournament this weekend.  Vacation Bible S...

spring happennings

Image
I've re-entered the blogosphere!  Spring always comes roaring in like a lion.  Between planting season on the farm, end of the school year activities and trips, two different baseball schedules, and all of the regular activities,  we are in hyper drive for a few months.  But then July will come and we will kick back a little and enjoy the summer.  Warning....what follows in this entry involves some mommy bragging.  I can't help it.  I love my kids.  And their lives and accomplishments are what consume my days right now.  so to give you an update on my life, means updating you on theirs.  One day I will have things that I do apart from them, but that time is not now.  We are one unit at the moment.  And I do love it :) Baseball season is in full swing.  I LOVE watching these guys play ball.  They are competitive but respectful, intense yet having a great time, and hitting the ball like crazy.  so much fun!...

Celebrating Mom!

Image
When it comes to mothers I find myself in the very fortunate and blessed category.  I grew up with a mom who loved me unconditionally, supported me always, and prayed for me daily.  There was never a need that didn't get met, never a day that I did not know I was loved, and many wise words instilled into my soul as she guided me through life.  Now, as I continue to grow into my role as mother and wife it's her that I see.....I see her in me....I see her in the way I now love my children, the way I serve my husband, and in the ways I value my faith and family.  She sets the mark quite high, but how wonderful it is to have such an example to follow.  Even though there are now miles between us, there will never be a day that I do not need my mom.  I owe so much of who I am, to her.  Putting it simply.... when it comes to mom's, I've got the best.  I love you mom! And then as if having a wonderful mother wasn't blessing enough, the Lord continued hi...

making me smile

a quick update that brings a smile to my face.  Each child so different....in what they love....in how they do things.  Each capturing my heart in their very own special way.   Wing night!  this boy can eat some wings  work day at church.  Jack is my old soul.  He loves working with grown ups and accomplishing a task.  He is so proud of how his hard work helped make the church look so beautiful.   garden 2016 is underway.  in all of his glory......working his land :) teeth continue to fall out as much as Jack loves his garden, that's how much this guy loves being on the baseball field.   still my little baker.....and cookie monster....oh the anticipation! so proud of Chase and the special artist award he received at school and then Luke.... he was "helping" in the garden.  He so badly wants to be big like his brothers.   I love watching him in action. He also has gone from...

slowing to a jog

Image
I haven't even looked to see when I last posted something on this blog.  But yes, I know it's been awhile.  This current stage I find myself in feels like I'm running as fast as I can behind a car that I'm trying to catch and I can never quite get close enough to get in the car.  I rest at the end of each day and then bright and early....it's off to chasing that car again.  But this particular morning I am so grateful to begin with more of a feeling of a jog.  We are in the middle of a two and a half long break from school and the boys are programmed to getting up early.  Unfortunately that doesn't change just because they are on break.  So most mornings, we start out sprinting :)  Finally on day 13 of break they are sleeping in a bit.  woohoo!  I was in great need of a day that I can ease into.  It's amazing what a few moments of uninterrupted quiet can do for a mother's soul. Baseball season has begun which means I'm seeing a l...

what we need

Image
Isn't it wonderful that God knows exactly what we need?  I tend to focus on praying for the big things....please Lord equip me for parenting.....help me teach my boys true kindness....help us make the best decisions for their well being....please God help me survive these formative years without pulling every last one of the hairs out of my head....keep us healthy....keep us safe...keep us as crisis free as possible.  Things like that are what I think I need. When what I've really needed was that casual conversation with my 8 year old that somehow calmed my heart about changes that are just around the corner for our family....30 minutes of the littlest guy keeping himself content so that I could once again connect with you on this blog.....celebrating with the middle one when he finally remembered how to pronounce Thessalonians so that he could move forward in his Awana book.....and just this morning witnessing a very rare moment of brotherly love between the older two....a si...
