Out of the boat

As believers, we all have had challenges laid before us that require a leap of faith.  Those times when you know what God is calling you to do.....but to actually do it is scary, uncertain, and causes doubts of our adequacy.   I'm currently in the midst of one of those times.  But I was so encouraged by the passage of scripture I read this morning from Matthew 14.  I read the story of Peter.....when Jesus called him out of the boat....to walk to Him on the water.  Peter did it.  He literally got out of his boat, stepped into the raging sea, and walked on the water toward Jesus.  And just as many of us do, he took His eyes off of Jesus, started focusing on the storm around him and began to sink.  But then here is my favorite part.... verse 31, "And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him...".  He didn't let Peter fall.  He swept him up and pulled him out.  What a comfort this was to me today.  Peter took a step of faith.  He got out of the boat becau

Jack has been waiting for snow to return ever since our snowy winter two years ago.  Finally this morning ....almost an inch!! ......and yes my Ohio friends, that is enough to shut down schools in Delaware :)  So it's a snow day today.  And my boys are happy.  Here's Jack just after waking up this morning....

The harsh reality that you have two growing boys and one grown daddy in your household .......this is what a 9x13 dessert looks like the day after you have made it. :) Good thing I love to cook and bake. I can't believe how fast food disappears in this house!

a break...

And just like that we are midway through January. You would think that my lack of posting would be due to some sort of writer's block, which may be partly true. But mostly it's just that my precious blogging time has been getting swept under the rug by too many other things. But I've done it in the past, so my goal is to get back to a post or two a week. We'll see how that goes :). But for now....let me just remember what I was doing last week at this time.......ahhhh yes.......I was climbing aboard a little boat with my hubby that would take us to the Bahamian islands for a few days. It was the first cruise for both of us and I'm happy to report a complete success. What a wonderful time we had....just the two of us....remembering how much we enjoy hanging out with each other :). So despite feeling a little guilty for leaving the kiddos at home, and feeling a little selfish for thinking I deserved a break....I came home feeling even more grateful than ever

While resolutions and looking forward are all part of beginning a new year, I prefer a more reflective approach and enjoy looking back at the year we've just completed.  Smile about the good times....recall lessons learned from the not so good times....being ever so grateful for another year that God has so richly blessed.  Year after year I find myself so thankful that God is never finished with me.  He continues to mold me, teach me, and make me into the person He has called me to be.  Never will he take a break from maturing our faith if we are committed to seeking Him daily. Here's a look back.... a rough start as Chase was battling a severe case of croup to ring in the New Year a wonderful weekend away in February with my hubby Chase turns 2!
